Sloan Pictures: 1982

These pictures were taken when I took my little Disc Camera to New Mexico. They were developed in August 1982, and since that's the year the Disc Camera was introduced, they must be from summer of that year.

Since the last time I checked, there are a lot more Claunch links on the Internet. There used to be 1 useful hit for "Claunch New Mexico"... now there are over 400 hits for that query! Here are some of the best.

The first Claunch page on the Internet: New Mexico Ghost Towns - Claunch. Gives the town 3 ghosts (on a 4-ghost scale), and realizes the truth that since Claunch is at the center of New Mexico, it is therefore at the center of the Unverse.
A new set of very detailed pages: New Mexico Wanderings (new link 1/2005) includes a whopping 10 pages of Claunch info, including a page with six pictures from December, 2001. This site includes the news that a museum is opening in "Spring 2002" -- will post confirmation when it becomes available.
WPA projects in Southern New Mexico (new link 1/2005) leads off with a picture of the Old School House.
On the same site, a page of New Mexico's Rural Post Offices (new link 1/2005) includes stories of the Claunch P.O. (but no pictures).

Would you believe the Claunch Presbyterian Church recently reopened? Worship is at 9am, on the first Sunday of the month.
(New 1/2005) A 1994 travelogue of a trip from Santa Fe to El Paso via the most logical route: right through Claunch. A couple of nice pictures and a good description.
Here's a great find: a college english paper by a descendant of the Tally Ranch folks. It's been deleted from her school's server, but I grabbed it just in time!
